The Nigerian off-grid opportunity

Over 180 million Nigerians are either off-grid or experience unreliable grid service. The economy is powered largely by small-scale generators (10–15 GW). As a result, Nigerian households and businesses spend almost $14 billion annually on expensive and inefficient generation at $0.40/kWh or more. These generators emit noise and air pollution which kills thousands of Nigerian families every year.

Providing access to off-grid solar home systems (SHS) alternatives to complement the unreliable grid creates a $2B/YR market opportunity that will help Nigerian homes and small businesses save over 20% of their monthly income and improve the quality of their lives.

The ecosystem opportunity

The Nigerian off-grid solar market is still at a nascent stage of only 5% market penetration. We believe that the slow market uptake is due to the silo approach currently practised by most stakeholders. To increase market penetration, there has to be a collaborative shared vision by key stakeholders to build for the ecosystem more efficiently.

We strongly believe that the current silo approach can not solve this problem. To increase market penetration, there has to be a collaborative shared vision by key stakeholders to build for the ecosystem to address the complex problems efficiently.

Veritas Vision seeks to be the catalyst in that ecosystem. With our understanding of the market and collaborative culture,
our unique approach will provide the vetted and bespoke products, inclusive education, bottom-up intelligence, and last-mile economic infrastructure needed to deliver sustainable solutions targeted at the poor to help them break out of poverty.
